Sutton Courtenay, Berkshire
21st August 1915
Killed in action in the first action the Regiment took part in on Gallipoli when they fronted the first advance and attack at Hill 70 across the Salt Lakes near to Chocolate Hill as part of a general advance by the Buckinghamshire Yeomanry and Dorsetshire Yeomanry. Casualty figures hit on average 50% across all yeomanry. The Turkish forces were well entrenched in trenches hidden from view and had lit the brush so smoke made navigation and viewing very difficult. Many men were never seen again.
