Died at Moorlands, Lower Bullingham, Hereford when a German Luftwaffe bomber dropped 2 x 250 kg bombs, killing 22 people including Ernest, his wife Bertha, his son Ron who was home on leave from the army, his daughter-in-law Vera and her mother Florence Clarke from Nottingham
